Historie

Baggrund for fondens oprettelse

Johan Heinrich Hoffmann og Hustrus Mindefond blev stiftet i 1967 af entreprenør E.V. Hoffmann, Ingeborg Hoffmann, Eli Hoffmann, civilingeniør Jørgen Hoffmann og civilingeniør J.H. Hoffmann.

Fonden blev stiftet til minde om grundlæggeren af entreprenørfirmaet H. Hoffmann & Sønner A/S, entreprenør Johan Heinrich Hoffmann og hans hustru Elise Henriette Marie Hoffmann.

Entrepanørfirmaet H. Hoffmann & Sønner A/S blev stiftet af Johan Heinrich Hoffmann i 1863. I sin første periode deltog firmaet i udbygningen af det på det tidspunkt hastigt ekpanderende jernbanenet senere i 1869 i grundlæggelsen af Esbjerg havn. Firmaet blev solgt til det norske entrepanørfirma Veidekke i 2000 og er siden da forsat i Danmark under navnet Hoffmann.
